The first EU India Green energy (Hydrogen) Forum was organized on 8th September, 2022 in New Delhi. The Forum acted as a channel in between the European and Indian business communities. EU and India have come together to fulfill their demand for green energy. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Delegation of European Union with the co-operation of Confederation of Indian Industry and Hydrogen Europe organized the Forum jointly.
The Government of India launched the National Hydrogen Mission on the occasion of 75th Independence Day i.e., 15th August, 2021. This mission aimed at reducing carbon emissions and fight global warming through the use of green hydrogen.
What is green energy?
Green hydrogen is an alternative to reduce carbon emissions and slow down global warming. This is generated by renewable energy i.e., splitting water molecule (H20) into two hydrogen and one oxygen molecule using electrolysis. It is a source of clean energy as it leaves no residue. It only emits water vapor.
Kadri Simson, the European Commissioner for Energy and R.K Singh, the Union Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy addressed the gathering.
As per the reports of other Media houses, Singh said that finally it’s the time for green hydrogen in India. He also indicated that India is on its way to produce the electrolysers on their own to fulfill its needs as the demand for hydrogen in India is high. During his speech, he also invited private businesses to invest in making India dominant figure in Green Hydrogen Industry. He said “we are the most attractive market for investment for renewable energy in the world.”
Simson indicated about a proposal on building hydrogen pipelines between India and Europe. India and Europe have become strategic partners of each other for this social cause of saving the world.
