A Sigh of Relief for Environmentalists, No More Petrol/Diesel Cars From 2030 in UK
The Government of United Kingdom has decided to put a ban on the sale of vehicles that run on fossil fuels in order to save the environment. The Government has banned the sale of vehicles that run on petrol and diesel from the year 2030. However, the sale of hybrid cars will be allowed till 2035. The burning of fossil fuels to run the vehicles is no doubt one of the biggest causes of Global warming. They release huge amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere which don’t let the excessive heat escape the atmosphere and hence increasing the temperature on Earth.
Our planet has never been hotter. Global warming has caused most of the natural disasters around the world such as prolonged droughts, frequent cyclones and tsunamis, etc. According to the google reports, since 1990s Antarctica has lost more than 4 metric tons of ice.
Scientists around the world have stated that, if we don’t limit the temperature rise till 1.5°C by 2040, extreme weather conditions will increase which will lead to extinction of various species causing loss in biodiversity. Thousands and thousands of people will lose their lives due to extreme heat waves and the sea level around the world is expected to rise if we don’t put a check on global warming.
Moreover, fossil fuels are a non-renewable source of energy, the rate at which we are consuming them should be reduced to save it for our future generation. Keeping in mind all the adverse effects of this, the Government of UK has decided to put a ban on the sale of vehicles that run on fossil fuels in order to save the environment. However, the sale of hybrid cars will be allowed till 2035.
The Government has made this move to promote the use of EVs that cause no harm to the environment and protect our Earth. Their target is to cut down the emission of greenhouse gases to zero by the year 2050.
This ban will significantly reduce Global warming and help to make Earth a healthier place to live on, in the long run. This move is praised by most of the environmentalists around the world. This is one small step taken to save this planet since there is no Planet B.
