World Cannot Afford Another Virus That Takes Millions of Lives
Before the world could erase the Coronavirus from the face of the earth another virus has started to cause instability and uncertainty in the world again. This time the name of the virus is the Monkey pox Virus. It is a virus that mostly spreads from animals to humans and can also spread between humans further. Now the question arises that is the monkeypox virus deadlier than the coronavirus? Let us try to understand.
A new virus in the making – the monkeypox
We all know that the world as a whole has been trying to win the war against the deadly Coronavirus that has affected the world in explicit ways. Do you think that world can afford another virus that might take millions of lives? The answer is big-big NO! But unfortunately, before the world could erase the Coronavirus from the face of the earth another virus has started to cause instability and uncertainty in the world again. This time the name of the virus is the Monkey pox Virus. It is a virus that mostly spreads from animals to humans and can also spread between humans further.
How severe is the state of the virus in the world?
According to the director general of the World Health Organization Mr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, he stated that he was “deeply concerned” about this new virus that is hovering over us, and he also mentioned that the virus has already reached up to 50 countries. In total there have been about 4,100 cases all over the world for now. Like the Coronavirus started with a cluster of cases in Wuhan, China similarly the Monkey pox Virus started with a cluster of cases in The United Kingdom. There were roughly 846 laboratory confirmed cases of the Monkey Pox Virus in the UK. Fortunately, as of 31st May 2022 there have been no cases of the virus found in India, but that does not mean that should not start taking precautions beforehand. Precaution is always better than cure.
What do we know about the monkey pox virus?
There are many things that we know about this virus like this is found in animals like rodents in countries like Africa, we can be infected with this virus for over a week and have no idea because it takes more than 8 days to start showing the symptoms, there are a considerable number of vaccines for this virus like the same vaccines used for smallpox provide 85% protection from this virus as well. The world cannot afford another virus
The Monkey Pox Virus had already occurred in over 10 African countries. It also once crossed the borders of Africa and entered US in 2003 which was a shocking incident since prior to that people were informed that this virus was geographically limited.
