“Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world.”

Education allows us to be stable and independent in our lives. It lets people make their dreams come true. Education is beyond textbooks. It cannot be achieved without a teacher; they play the most crucial in one’s life. Teachers are the architects of our lives. Those frustrating school days shape our future.

The Indian Education system has undergone various changes since independence. The latest change would be the implementation of National Education Policy from the academic year 2022-23 that was approved in 2020 by the Union Cabinet of India.

According to UNICEF, India is currently the largest school system in the world with more than 250 million students studying in over 1.5 million schools. One of the aims of the Indian Government is to provide quality education to all. However, the challenges to that have not yet reduced. Dharmendra Pradhan, the Education minister of India has said that 150 million students were still out of school in 2021.

According to UNESCO’s State of Education report for India, there are still more than 120,000 schools that are run by Single teachers, most of which are in rural areas. This report also indicates that India needs more than a million new teachers to meet the current demand for education.

This report was made to identify the teachers as Frontline workers. It highlighted that it’s high time to improve the employment terms for teachers in both private and public schools. This report also suggested to improve the working conditions for teachers in North-Eastern states and rural areas and also to increase their numbers.

The report also aimed at improving the quality of education in India by increasing the number of physical education, music, art and other various activities.

The demand for new trained and qualified teachers must be fulfilled soon for the betterment of the whole country.
